Our society attended a birthday celebration for Maud Powell on August 22nd in Centennial Park. The event was hosted by The Maud Powell Society of America and featured several musicians focusing on string instruments. After the event as we were getting ready to take down our display for the Peru Historical Society, someone stopped by to ask about Maud’s ancestry. We guessed possibly English, but let them know we hadn’t yet researched it and promised them we would.
Not wanting to wait until next year’s birthday celebration, we got right to the research. While there are several trees online for Maud, not all are sourced so we undertook our own research in order to capture the documentation supporting the people placed in her family tree.
Based on our research, the final conclusion to date is:
She is English through her father’s line.
She is German through her mother’s line.
Attached is a flyer we made to share the information we found regarding Maud’s ancestry. Eventually we will develop a report to document our genealogy research of Maud. When that is complete, we will share it on our website.
