We welcome stories from anyone who would like to share a piece of Peru’s history. You don’t need to be a professional writer—just bring an idea, a memory, or a story you’d like others to hear. If you’d like to discuss an idea before writing or have questions, contact us by email, use the contact form on our website, call us, or talk with us at a monthly meeting.
Following is a list of types of articles we welcome:
- Memories or personal stories or experiences related to Peru – these can be short or long and can be about people, places, or events.
- Essays about the community
- Timelines
- Family histories
- Photos with information – these can be from any time period
- Research about local places, people, or events
Below are some general guidelines for submissions:
- Stories are usually 300 to 2500 words. Although the submission can be any length. (If you have something longer let us know because there may be an opportunity for us to publish your story in a book.)
- Stories can be sent in a Microsoft WORD document, Google Doc, PDF, or sent in an email.
- Each story should have a title and author name.
- If you want to include images in your story, send those in JPG or PNG format at an appropriate resolution with captions and locations for placement in the story.
- Please ensure all writing is clear and respectful.
- Memories, essays, family stories, and photos do not usually need citations or references. Stories or timelines relying on research should include references or citations.
- If you would like, you can also attach a short bio about yourself to be included at the end of the article.
You can send your story to:
